Arts and Crafts in Maharashtra

Maharashtra is famous for its expertise of the artisans in arts and crafts. These are much known for their magnificent aesthetic and utilitarian value. The fine fabrics of mashroo and himroo are the clear examples of their highest level of weaving art. Now-a-days the Handicraft tradition of the Maharashtra state have flourished into full-fledged industries in themselves. The fabrics which looks like golden cloth are regarded to be one of the finest of its kind. The high level weaving are also evident with the paithani and narayan peth sarees.
The famous Ajanta paintings carved out of rock are just amazing. Sawantwadi Crafts, Bidri Works, Leather Works, Mashroo and Himroo are some of the other arts and craft forms of Maharashtra, that have made their demand in the international market. Most of the times people local to these regions carry these materials on their friends' demand when they visit these place during holidays or festive seasons. Also there is a proud feeling in doing so. Maharashtra has a rich cultural heritage which is visible in its traditional arts and crafts. The district of Kolhapur gives two most famous things - jewellery and Kolhapuri chappals. Kolhapuri chappals are known for its quality, comfortability and low price. The Warlis style of paintings belong to the tribal people who live in the Thane district, situated in north of Mumbai. It is even compared to the famous paintings of Madhubani, Bihar.
